One of Rolex's most prestigious collections, the Day-Date originated in 1956 and earned its name from a special new movement that showed not just the date (at 3 o'clock) but also the day of the week in a regal-looking window at 12. The watch is often referred to as the President's watch because many US Presidents, as well as other accomplished world leaders like Winston Churchill, are known to have worn it. The watch is also known for being among the first to be officially labelled 'Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified' on the dial, thanks to its excellent movement.
